Dear beloved readers and viewers: My blog testimony
"To develop myself and to communicate through art I am going to push my motivation by bringing this blog to life."
This this is my testimony and I will pursue it by posting three times a week with three different subjects:
"Music tuesday", "Film thursday" and "Photography Saturday". The content will be a mix of what inspires me and what I have created myself. I always have an opinion about art whether it is mildly amusing or simply amazing and if you have a response please communicate back to me. Knowing that someone receives my posts inspires me to keep sharing. This month will feature subjects like Chrisette Michele, Incubus and Demetrius Freeman (my boo). Feel free to write me about subjects you would like me to discuss or projects you need help with!
Roskilde Festival's Closing Email

The Roskilde Festival logo is of its biggest stage "The Orange Stage".
The festival started in 1971 and they got the stage in 1978.
It had been used by The Rolling Stones on their europe tour in 1976.
Roskilde Festival has been sending me updates throughout the year and as one of the only news-email-letters I've skimmed it with enthusiasm every time. I love getting a quick update on the latest news on which bands would be playing for 2011 and so on. But the last email for this year which I received this morning really touched my heart. Since I wasn't able to attend the festival for the 1st time in 14 years, I've been looking excited at friends' photos and videos of the festival, and this together with this last email really made me feel like I got an impression of how it went. I can't wait to look up the artists that they wrote about or the artists that friends were amazed by.

Here is an explanation of the most interesting facts from the email mixed with some of my knowledge of the festival. To read the full article in Danish press here and in English press here

  • The festival was sold out with 130.000 people attending including volunteers and 1,8 mill. dollars over budget for charity.
  • A girl jumped out from or accidentally fell down from a tower and died. Some call it suicide, others call it an accident. The festival has focused extra on security since the 2001 accident where a crowd at a concert pushed people forward and 9 people died. (The festival is overall known for its peaceful party atmosphere and it's extremely low amount of violence compared to the density of people in one place and the amount of alcohol consumed).
  • Bands that were mentioned in the articles that gave a great performance: the electronic band Nicolas Jaar, the melo-metallic band Ghost (Sweden) and the hiphop band OFWGKTA (where Tyler, The Creator performed in a wheel chair because of a broken leg).
  • Artists that were amazed by the Roskilde Festival audience: Chalres Bradley who shed a tear and hugged the front audience, M.I.A. who said "This one is really gonna be hard to top" at the concert and Deadmau5 who wrote on his facebook-page: "I pretty much have no words to describe this one, if you were there, you know. <3 so much Denmark!"
  • It rained 14 mm throughout the festival and 100-200 m3 of sawdust was spread out.
  • Volunteers gathered trash and recycled and raised a big amount of money for charity.

I hope all of my family and friends all had a wonderful festival and to all you who haven't been there yet - go one year.. You'll love it. It's 4 days of fun camping and partying and the after that 4 days of music and fun in the main area (while still camping of course). It takes place the weekend closest to july 1st.
This guy was standing in the middle of Copenhagen's shoppingstreet (Strøget) trying to play what I believe is his favorite melody. Not many people payed attention to him, but I saw a character - not to be laughed at but to be listened to.

Sofie and I at Glyptoteket
Sofie Boysen, my amazing friend, and I visited the museum of statues: Glyptoteket, in Copenhagen, Denmark. While I was enjoying the sight of the statues and taking photos of them  she filmed me. It turned into this great movie that she edited together and put together with a song by the Danish rapper L.O.C:

A short movie for Dansens Dage's competition: 60secondsdance 2011

Directed and edited by:                 Sofie Boysen and Julie Malmstrøm Jensen (me!)
Danced and choreographed by:     Caroline Engell
Music by:                                    Frederik Engell
Description:
In a hectic world of fast trains and loud noises, you sometimes need to shut the world out with a pair of headphones. To just be alone with your thoughts. Your place. Your dance. In this film a girl waiting on a train will find the dancer within herself and experience a world of color and movement.

Britney, Kanye and Gaga
Hi everyone...
So I watched Britney's music video "Hold it against meand it just didn't amaze me:
  1. The editing was too fast to the point where I couldn't register any of the pictures... if you want to do fast editing, do it like Kanye did it in his latest music video with Rihanna: All of the lights (watch it in HD) -  Otherwise it just seems as if Britney and her music-video-people are trying to hide something - maybe a huge amount of bad dancing and pictures??... I dunno...
  2. She is wearing clothes that don't fit (happy she looks more normal-sized and not overly skinny but you have to be realistic about your clothing - see photo, it's just tacky style..
  3. There's a weird smile in the middle of the movie - What's she trying to do?
  4. The Britney vs. Britney fight was just not good... bad copy-job and no cat-fight feel..
  5. etc?
With that said I want to say that I respect Britney for previous work (saw a documentary with her, she actually has an amazing voice all natural) but this is just def. not her best... what do you think?

Someone on youtube, said that Britney needs to not try to copy Lady Gaga who can actually pull off these weird and crazy movies like her newest: "Born this Way". I only partly agree with this 'cause I could discuss that movie too about birth-pictures and her not wearing anything but brah + panties, but I find justifying reasons for these because her style just IS weird and she has the body for it (and maybe to show she's 100% girl, not a hermophrodite which has been discussed)

Weirdest smile - why?

I'm glad you're not model-thin anymore but remember to go up in your bra-size too!

This picture looked pretty cool, but the whole "spraying-paint-out-of-your-fingers" just didn't work for me!
Rave Party Costume

Tomorrow I'll be going to a school party with a rave theme so I made this dress outfit. I got help with the hoodie-design from this "crafter.org" site. It took me 3-4 fun hours and 20 dollars to make and I got into the party for free (5 dollar entrance) because they liked my outfit so much.

I can wear the dress as a summer dress later on so in general I'm happy about my achievement! :)

My favorite music

Music is the way I breathe... and what do I mean by that? I mean, that the few artists whose music really touches my soul have the ability to bring peace to my world. Thereby they have a great importance in my life because not only do they bring peace in my mind but they also inspire me to improve my own music and to touch other people's lives with music.

Incubus
Incubus has been in my headphones for the longest and they have yet to disappoint me! They are my favorite band because they amaze me by their melodies, sound and overall feel. I love their style and I feel lucky every time I hear one of their songs...

John Mayer
Oh, John john john.. Keep breaking young girls hearts.. I respect John Mayer for his originality and I feel good when I listen to him and his guitar.

India.Arie
This woman has the best voice that I know. She is from Atlanta, GA, and her melodies and lyrics are so universal. Her live performance was one of the best I have experienced. She doesn't sing for fame but definitely for the music. And for love.

Jamie Cullum
What a guy! At his concert at Roskilde Festival in 2005 he was jumping over the piano and playing the strings on the inside of it. He was very entertaining and he is the best out there to mix pop and jaz in his own style.

The Kooks
This band have a great British rock sound. The two songs "Naive" and "Ohh La" are especially great.

Corinne Bailey Rae
This woman's music melts your heart. Her British voice is sexy, sweet like sugar and so unique.

Sia
is so lively in her videos and her newest cd "We Are Born" just makes you happy when you listen to it. Happy groves with catchy choruses.

Miike Snow
This Swedish band have their very own amazing sound. Their songs "Animal" and "Sylvia" are especially amazing. The wonderful base in "Animal" just leaves me speachless.

Amos Lee
This man's voice is just... oh my...! The first song on this cd "Keep it Loose, Keep it tight" just relaxes your every muscle and makes you forget whatever you're doing.

The XX
- are amazing - promise me you listen to them! They just have to be heard - no explanation needed - as simple as their cover!

My music video: Love the Way

Here's a music video for my song "Love the Way" that Demetrius Freeman and I made the winter of 2010. It was a lot of fun!
